Nautical Striped Beach Bag

Hello everyone!  If you follow me on Instagram then you’ve probably seen me posting about our trip to Florida last month, including my posts featuring this beach bag.

I came across this pattern by A Crochet Simplicity after seeing a beautiful hat pattern I wanted to make.  At the time there was a deal for 3 patterns for $12 or something like that so I bought a few things and this beach bag was one of them.  I made another beach bag last year for our trip to Cuba, but I needed something bigger this year since we had the kiddos with us.

For this project I used Bernat Handicrafter 100% cotton yarn in the colours Navy, White, Taupe and Off-White.  I used taupe for the base, white and navy for the body and the off white for the pockets and handles.

I loved using this pattern.  There were so many pictures and everything is described very well.  I had never done a double crochet using the technique in this pattern so having a good guide really helped.  The stitch used really made it more like a fabric with little stretch which was really good for lugging around all the stuff you need for 4 people at the pool or beach!

I think my favourite part of this bag is the beautiful rope handles.  It really gives the bag that nautical look.  The strap that goes over the top of the bag is adjustable too!  The handles are very strong and the technique used to attach them inside the bag made this super durable.  I really loved making this bag, I think it’s one of my favourite projects to date.

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to check out last year’s beach bag and other bags I’ve made here. Until next time.. 🙂
