Chunky Hooded Cowl

Last year, I made a crochet shrug inspired by a post I saw on All About Ami.  The original pattern is from Lion Brand and I loved how it looked on her so I got to work and decided to make it in black.

You know sometimes you get all excited for a project, then once it’s done you just don’t love it that much?  That’s what happened here.  It sat in my closet for almost a year when I finally decided to recycle it into another project.

At first I was going to make a new cardigan design, but after starting on that, I also frogged it and started to look for patterns online.  I had about 8 balls of this yarn to work with so I’ve been able to make a few different projects out of it (BONUS!).  The first one I made was the Mountain Slouch (which I love) and the second one is this beautiful Hooded Cowl by Lil Crafty Chickadee on Etsy.

The yarn I used is Bernat Softee Chunky in black.  I love the feel and fit of it.  I was also excited to finally get to use my new hook from We Are Knitters.  I haven’t had many projects so far that call for this size hook, so that was anther exciting part of this project.

I attached one of the garment tags from Brick Bubble I ordered last year for a cute accent.

All in all I am so happy with this cowl.  The hood folds back and becomes a part of the cowl and it fits perfectly under a jacket without being too bulky.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, it’s nice to be back!  Thanks for reading.

You can check out more scarves and cowls I’ve made here.
