Oatmeal Pom-pom Beanie

This past year, I wanted to take photos of my son for our Christmas card so I whipped up this simple and classic beanie hat for him to wear.

The pattern is from Lion Brand and it is so simple and easy to do.  It’s just lots and lots of single crochet stitches, done in the back loop only every row.  IMG_5046

The yarn I used for this one is Red Heart Super Saver in Aran Fleck.  I ran out of yarn for the pom pom so I took a mix of colors that are through out the Oatmeal yarn to make an accent pom pom instead.  I’m glad I did it this way because I love how it turned out! I did a mix of dark brown, golden brown, taupe, beige and white.

This hat has a lot of stretch to it and I’ve a few others similar to it.  The pattern is nice because you can make it longer if you want it to be slouchier or shorter if you would like it more fitted.  You can also add a band around it, this I did with this one here.  This helps it stay in place on my head better.

There will be another post to come on this beanie soon!

In the meantime, you can check out more crochet hats I’ve made here.  Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
