Crochet Throw Pillow

I’m still waiting for the day when I look around my house and realize I have way too many crochet items.  But that day still hasn’t come, so until then I will keep going!

This is yet another pattern from one of my favourite crochet blogs, Little Monkey’s Crochet.  The original pattern is made for a 12 by 12 inch pillow but I adapted it to fit a 12 by 16 inch pillow insert I already had for my front hallway bench.

The yarn I used for this was once again Loops and Threads Impeccable in the color black.  To adapt the pattern, I started with the same amount of stitches to keep the 12″ height, but I added a few more rows to reach the 16″.  Very simple to do! I also left off the buttons, because of the black yarn, the only color that would really show up nicely is white, which I didn’t want to I just left it as is.

I like the way it can go on our couch as well. Black basically matches everything!

Since I knew I wouldn’t be moving this pillow very much, I didn’t make the back side crochet.  I cut a piece of fleece instead and sewed in onto the completed crochet rectangle then stuffed the pillow inside.  I absolutely love the look at the the SC +DC stitch combination which is also used in the Mason Jar Cozy and the Rustic Fringe Scarf.
