When I started to crochet, I had no idea that the world of Amigurumi existed. I can’t explain how excited I was to know that not only could I make tea cozies and doilies but I could also crochet animals and dolls and toys! Since discovering this super fun and cute world of crochet, I’ve been hooked (literally!) since.
I was so used to working in rounds that join rather than continuous rounds. Also using little tiny hooks is a big change too. I know a certain little boy who loves both Batman and Dispicable Me and that’s where I came up with the idea to make a Batman Minion. I started hunting for a pattern and luckily for me someone had thought of that exact idea! I bought the pattern from JAMigurumi on Etsy and got to work right away.
Here he is mid-production with no accessories yet…
At the time I did not have any safety eyes nor could I find them in any store ANY WHERE. Trust me, it was a lengthy hunt. I finally decided to buy them online and paid for shipping which was the only thing I was trying to avoid in the first place. I bought them from 6060 on Etsy as well. I first tried to use a black piece of rubber but it did not want to stick. I am happy I did though because I’ve used these eyes for so many different projects now and they really make a big difference.
*The Batman symbol is very tricky to cut! Make sure you have sharp scissors because it is small and precise..
I was so happy with the finished product and so was the little guy I made it for. 🙂
